What are the responsibilities and job description for the OTR Driver / EV Tester position at KETT ENGINEERING CORPORATION?
Kett Engineering, established in 1953, a leader in the automotive testing industry is in need of OTR Drivers to test EV charging stations with our customer's vehicles for a 5 to 8 week test!
Project Details:
The project involves conducting testing at various AC and DC charging stations throughout North America. Each vehicle will follow a predefined route with designated charging stations for testing. Drivers must follow daily routes and adapt to necessary changes as they occur. The focus is not on high-mileage daily driving, but rather on covering designated charging stations and performing testing procedures at each location.
Drivers will operate the test vehicle independently. Experience driving testing vehicles (prototype/pre-production vehicles preferred)
- EV driving experience (preferred)
- Familiarity with EV charging stations and charging apps (highly desirable)
- Basic to intermediate computer skills (laptop usage)
- Basic experience or having used Excel (basic functions), Outlook, and Microsoft Teams
- Smartphone experience with apps, photo capture, and communication
- Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
- Organizational skills and documentation capabilities
- Good written and verbal communication skills
EV Charging data collection activities will occur in various cities in the U.S. working Monday - Saturday is required. Sunday is considered a reset day (not paid) but may be requested if the project doesn't meet efficiency goals. The project will operate one shift per day but participants needs to be flexible since shift times may vary based on data collection environment needed (dawn, dusk, daylight, darkness, etc.) Drivers will interact with client project manager, engineers, and Kett personnel on a daily basis.
Drive team members will negotiate directly with their preferred hotel within the $150/night budget. Per Diem of $60/day (includes food, cell usage, and laundry) will be provided in advance via direct deposit every two weeks. Daily submittal of project time sheet and expense receipts is required.
Project will kick-off in Michigan. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and/or Google Sheets is required to complete time sheets. Computer experience is a prerequisite based on the job requirements in and outside of the vehicle.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 4 years. Have no points, no major traffic citations, and/or accidents for the past three years. No DUI or DWAI.
- Able to pass a background check, pre-employment drug screening, read maps, lift at least 25 pounds, and be able to travel outside of state limits.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Ability to drive for prolonged periods of time.
- Accurately communicate detailed findings verbally and legibly write detailed findings on reporting forms.
- Follow directions and execute tasks. Be reliable and maintain good attendance.
- Complete required trainings.
- Have a positive attitude and ability to contribute in a team environment.
