Job Summary
Warming Center Attendants provide support to shelter guests during overnight and weekend hours on various shifts. Responsibilities includes providing a safe, clean environment, supporting and assisting guests residing in shelter, and documenting any safety/security concerns or rule violations.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Communicate clearly with all staff regarding incidents, guest information, donations, safety concerns etc.
- Follow and enforce rules and policies
- Support and assist all guests center.
- Maintain safety and security of center and its property.
- Ensure the privacy and safety of all guests.
- Maintain the cleanliness of shelter.
- Document shift notes at least once per shift.
- Being the shift point of contact for the warming center.
- Responsible for coordinating the beds in the center.
- Distributes and assists with snacks, laundry, hygiene kits and clothes.
- Observes and records significant activity.
- Attends and takes part in regular staff meetings and mandatory trainings.
- Answers phone and monitors doors and guests.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding and sensitivity to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribal culture and lifestyle, working effectively with AI/AN populations.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with sensitivity to the lifestyles of targeted participants.
- Skills in operating personal computers using a variety of computer software.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with management, coworkers, and outside contacts.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all applicable federal and tribal privacy laws and KIC policy (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.)
- Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries while working with clients.

Conditions of Hire
- May be required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license or capable of obtaining one, as well as be insurable by KIC’s company insurance.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education & Experience Required
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least one-year experience working in a customer service setting.
• A combination of relevant experience, education, and training may substitute for education and experience requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education & Experience
• Minimum of 1-year experience working in a public service or social services setting.
• Minimum of 1-year experience in crisis intervention and problem solving with the ability to diffuse situations without heightening the conflict.
• Understanding of, or willingness to train in, areas such as trauma-informed care, mental health first aid, and de-escalation.
• Experience in community clinic preferred and a strong commitment to multi-disciplinary teamwork.
