Overview

History and spectacular landscapes come together, at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Celebrated landmarks, including Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and the University of Virginia, are clustered here among swathes of the East Coast's most beautiful scenery. The region is also home to over 25 wineries, breweries and cideries. 

This is the setting for Keswick Hall, an impressive 80-room luxury boutique hotel nestled on 600 acres which recently re-opened in 2021 after renovations. Home to the prestigious Keswick Golf Club, Marigold Restaurant, by Jean-Georges, a new luxury spa and sports and aquatics center.  


The Food Runner is responsible for assisting the server with delivery of food from the kitchen and completing guest requests to ascertain satisfaction and ensure exceptional service.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Work with a "sense of urgency".
  • Create a warm, friendly, relaxed atmosphere for the enjoyment of our guests.
  • Provide professional, courteous and efficient presentation of food and beverage service to all guests.
  • Clean and set up tables in the outlet and perform other food service-related duties, including general cleaning and set up.
  • Stack trays properly for efficient unloading for stewarding and always ensure proper safety standards.  
  • Complete closing duties, including storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, restocking items, and completing daily cleaning checklist.
  • Set up, stock, and maintain work areas. Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of all china, glass, and silver prior to use.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures and utilizing cleaning to adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Describe the food items thoroughly to the guests upon delivery.
  • Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers to assist in set up and clean-up of tables; restock items and utensils necessary for plating within the respective restaurant.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 0-2 years of food and beverage experience.  However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration. 
  • Knowledge of all food and beverage products are offered and how they are prepared.
  •  Average reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language. 
  • Strong sense of urgency and organization. 
  • Strong commitment to service.
  • Great attention to detail. 
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts as will involve days, evenings, weekends and holidays. 
  • Strong customer service skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal and team player skills. 
  • Must possess the ability to organize and prioritize. 
  • Must be able to go up and down staircase as well as stoop and bend. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
