We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Warehouse Manager to help lead our distribution warehouse operations—and to play a critical role in our upcoming facility transition. Our company will be relocating to a new warehouse in the near future, and this position will serve as a key project manager for planning, coordinating, and executing that move. This includes managing layout planning, equipment needs, racking installation, inventory relocation, and ensuring a smooth operational transition with minimal disruption.
The Warehouse Manager will oversee all daily functions of the warehouse, including receiving, shipping, material handling, and administrative tasks. This role also supervises a team of warehouse personnel and is responsible for coaching, training, and maintaining high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of the Operations team, the Warehouse Manager will:
Facility Move Leadership
- Lead and manage the full warehouse relocation project, including planning, timelines, vendor coordination, racking and equipment setup, inventory transfer, and go-live readiness.
- Partner closely with the Operations Manager to ensure the new facility is fully operational, efficient, and aligned with company requirements.
- Communicate project updates, risks, and resource needs to leadership.
Warehouse Operations
- Provide front-line leadership, supervision, and coordination of warehouse employees involved in receiving, storing, inventorying, picking, palletizing, and loading products.
- Oversee administrative and logistical support for all outgoing shipments.
- Develop short- and long-term strategies to optimize warehouse efficiency and engage the team in continuous improvement.
- Maintain clear, positive communication with employees, managers, vendors, and customers.
- Ensure operational quality and productivity standards are met in a cost-effective manner.
- Enforce proper equipment use, safety protocols, and housekeeping standards.
- Coach, mentor, and support employee development through performance management.
- Identify and recommend supply chain cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop and oversee training programs for new employees and ensure all staff maintain required certifications.
- Investigate and resolve issues including damaged product, inventory discrepancies, and quality concerns; implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Troubleshoot shipping and receiving issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain a regular presence on the warehouse floor, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Operate forklifts and light manufacturing/assembly equipment when necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum of ten years of supervisory experience in warehouse or distribution operations.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a strong ability to coach, direct, and develop employees.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience using MRP/ERP systems is required.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience supporting or managing facility moves is a plus.
Location Requirement: This position is based in Leland, NC. Candidates must reside in the Leland area or within a reasonable driving distance. Relocation assistance is not available.
