Duties
- Perform dental prophylaxis, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque, calculus, and stains, ensuring optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to develop tailored treatment plans.
- Take and interpret dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring high-quality imaging for accurate diagnosis while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
- Occasionally assist during dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to empower them in maintaining healthy smiles.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EMR systems) accurately by documenting treatment details, medical information, and procedural notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain infection control standards by sterilizing equipment, practicing aseptic techniques, and ensuring the dental environment adheres to all safety guidelines.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting with a strong understanding of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles for treating young patients effectively and compassionately.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical imaging techniques, and medical records management for comprehensive patient care.
- Skilled in chairside assisting during various dental procedures while maintaining excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including HIPAA compliance and maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work efficiently within a team environment using excellent client communication skills to foster trust and rapport with patients of all ages.
