About the role
The Sanitation Specialist is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of all production areas, as well as maintaining the surrounding grounds and facilities.
This position plays a vital role in supporting a robust food safety program. In addition to routine sanitation activities, the Specialist actively contributes to preventing unsanitary conditions and promoting a safe, compliant work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate all daily sanitation activities within the processing plant and surrounding grounds.
- Develop, implement, validate, and maintain sanitation procedures, SSOPs, SOPs, and related programs.
- Conduct and oversee Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) swabbing and assist in investigations of EMP failures.
- Facilitate and support corrective actions related to sanitation and pest prevention in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Provide initial and annual training on proper sanitation practices and conduct monthly SSOP training sessions.
- Inspect the facility weekly and perform daily zonal inspections to ensure compliance with sanitation standards.
- Monitor and maintain sanitation equipment, chemicals, tools, PPE, and supply inventory to meet operational needs.
- Interact with third-party auditors and develop action plans to address audit findings and ensure food safety compliance.
Qualifications and skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in food manufacturing quality functions, including Sanitation, QC, and QA.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, FSMA, and industry standards, with a willingness to learn all applicable food safety requirements.
- Solid understanding of sanitation practices, including MSS, CIP, and SSOPs.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and flexible to work weekends and overtime as needed.
- Ability to support AM/PM shifts for trainings and trials.
- Experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
Compensation Data
The pay range for this position is 64,479 - 105,272 in Annual Salary. Kerry typically does not hire an individual at the top or near the top of the range, as we are a pay-for-performance company, and this range is set to continue to reward performance annually while in role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate within the above range may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
