What are the responsibilities and job description for the Road Maintenance Worker position at Kerr County?
Description of the Work:
The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of semi-skilled construction, maintenance, and repair activities in support of the Kerr County Road and Bridge Department. Respond to calls from the public for assistance with potholes, edge repair, removing debris, deceased animals, or fallen trees, and clearing right of ways.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Clear brush from roadsides and grounds.
2. Repair potholes and road edges.
3. Assist with traffic control in work zones.
4. Remove and properly dispose of deceased animals.
5. Perform weed trimming duties.
Additional duties include: Operate bucket trucks, chipper, loaders, skid-steer, and weed eaters. Call out 24/7. Employees with a Class A CDL may also operate dump trucks and side loaders.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to train co-workers on the proper usage of equipment; Good customer service skills; Good interpersonal skills; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Knowledge in repairing equipment; Knowledge of operating standards, rules and regulations in Kerr County.
Special Requirements:
Certifications, licenses, professional designations, or other qualifications required for this position include: Valid Class A Commercial Driver License
