QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, and spelling; specialized procedures, methods, and or policies as designated; basic record keeping/inventory methods and techniques; basic store/concessions operations; skill to understand and carry out directions in an independent manner; quickly learn to effectively operate and maintain cash register and designated food service machine/equipment; train and supervise student workers.
Must possess the skill to establish and maintain a variety of records and logs; maintain an appropriate inventory of stock on hand; communicate effectively orally and in writing; effectively organize and prioritize work load for self and others; ability to meet physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties.
Must possess the skill to operate designated office machines and equipment with speed and accuracy; type at a rate of 40 net wpm; learn the operations, procedures, policies, and requirements of assigned program; perform routine arithmetical calculations; maintain routine records; understand, follow and carry out oral/written directions in an independent manner; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties.
One year of typing and general clerical experience, preferably including experience in retail sales, or any combination of training and/or experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and skill.
Upon placement in the position, the employee will obtain, if not already in possession of, a Food Safety Certificate.
A RECENT TYPING CERTIFICATE MUST ACCOMPANY THE APPLICATION IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED.
A PRE-PLACEMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT AND A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
DUTIES OF POSITION: Under supervision, operates an on-campus student store and maintains an adequate stock and inventory. Employees in this class direct and supervise student assistants. This job class performs a variety of routine but responsible tasks in the effective implementation of store/concession operations and requires communication and organizational skills as well as knowledge of specialized procedures and methods utilized in the stocking/retailing activities. Performs a wide variety of responsible and/or the more specialized clerical/technical support services. This job class performs journey level clerical duties and requires knowledge of specialized procedures and precedents. Must be able to choose among a limited number of alternatives in solving routine problems. Will have various responsibilities in several areas.
STARTING SALARY: $3,416.54 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 10.5 (to begin as soon as possible)
NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours to be 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
