Kern Energy is hiring a pump Mechanic whose primary responsibilities will revolve around maintaining and repairing various types of rotating equipment used in the refinery operations to ensure their proper functioning for smooth and efficient operation. Job Function

  • Perform routine maintenance on various types of pumps, including centrifugal pumps, reciprocating pumps, gear pumps, diaphragm pumps reciprocating compressors, drive engines and motors. This involves inspecting, cleaning, and lubricating the equipment to ensure their optimal performance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot pump-related issues, such as leaks, vibrations, and abnormal noises. Identify the root cause of problems and develop effective repair solutions.
  • Perform repairs and overhauls on rotating equipment. This may involve replacing worn-out parts, such as seals, bearings, impellers, and gaskets, and ensuring proper alignment and balance of components.
  • Ensure proper alignment of the pump with the motor or engine to avoid excessive wear and premature failure.
  • Conduct tests on repaired or newly installed pumps to verify their performance and efficiency, making any necessary adjustments to meet refinery standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Follow environmental guidelines for handling hazardous materials and waste.
  • Maintain accurate records of rotating equipment maintenance activities, repairs, and replacements. This includes documenting the parts used, work performed, and any recommendations for future improvements in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Implement and adhere to a preventive maintenance schedule to reduce downtime and prevent potential equipment failures.
  • Work with other refinery maintenance personnel and operators to coordinate pump maintenance activities and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to review plans, estimate material and labor requirements, and provide technical guidance. planning and execution of pump system upgrades, modifications, or expansions
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in pump technology and maintenance techniques to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Be prepared to respond to pump-related emergencies promptly, especially during unexpected breakdowns or system failures.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and personal protective gear are well-maintained and in good working condition.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior mechanics or new employees, as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills

  • Wide range of knowledge of rotating equipment.
  • Knowledge of API seal plans.
  • Familiar with new rotating equipment installs and some system experience.
  • Ability to read and understand technical and general arrangement drawings.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate needs to management.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce company rules and regulations as well as OSHA standards and requirements.
  • Must have great attention to detail.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and respond immediately to call-outs.
  • Knowledge of Laser alignment equipment and vibration analysis experience.
  • Previous experience reading and comprehending Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Previous experience with Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and knowledgeable in hydraulics.

Education/ Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working in an industrial setting on rotating equipment.
