What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Classroom Teacher (2026-2027) position at Kerens Elementary?
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and student-centered Elementary Teacher who is committed to building strong relationships, delivering high-quality instruction, and fostering a positive classroom culture. The ideal candidate will create engaging, standards-based lessons that meet the diverse needs of all learners while promoting academic growth and character development.
Instruction & Planning
-Plan and deliver rigorous, TEKS-aligned instruction in core subject areas (reading, math, science, and social studies)
-Use data to drive instruction and adjust teaching strategies to meet student needs
-Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including students receiving intervention, 504, and SPED services
-Incorporate higher-level thinking, questioning, and student discourse into daily lessons
Classroom Environment & Culture
-Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment
-Build strong relationships with students to support both academic and social-emotional growth
-Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote respect and accountability
-Maintain high expectations for student behavior and achievement
Assessment & Data Use
-Regularly assess student progress through formative and summative assessments
-Analyze data (e.g., i-Ready, CBAs, benchmarks) to inform instruction and intervention
-Participate in data meetings/PLCs and contribute to action planning
Collaboration & Communication
-Collaborate with grade-level teams, interventionists, and administrators to support student success
-Communicate regularly and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs
-Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and campus initiatives
Professional Responsibilities
-Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
-Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in IEPs, 504 plans, and MTSS supports
-Engage in continuous professional growth and reflect on instructional practices
-Support campus goals and contribute to a positive school culture
