One of my manufacturing clients is seeking a Cost Accountant to join their growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build a long-term career in manufacturing finance and cost accounting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
- Support inventory accounting, cycle counts, and physical inventories
- Analyze inventory, labor, material, and manufacturing cost variances
- Maintain and update standard costs, bills of materials (BOMs), and routings
- Prepare financial and operational reports for leadership
- Partner with Operations, Production, and Purchasing to ensure accurate product costing
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis projects
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting policies
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1–3 years of accounting, cost accounting, financial analysis, or manufacturing accounting experience
- Manufacturing experience is preferred but not required
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with an ERP system is a plus
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
