Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and handling, along with the ability to assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures
- Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging, including X-rays
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian
- Provide nursing care to hospitalized animals, including monitoring vital signs and administering treatments
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient
- Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and preventative health measures
- Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and procedures
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including maintaining an aseptic environment
- Provide support in kennel duties, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals
Requirements
- Previous veterinary technician/assistant experience preferred; kennel experience is a plus
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices
- Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures related to animal dental care
- Experience in veterinary critical care or laboratory settings is advantageous
- Proficiency in animal catheterization techniques and animal restraint methods
- Ability to handle various breeds of dogs safely; equine experience is a bonus
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and pet owners
