Role Description
This part-time, Swim Instructor role is based in the greater phoenix area. The Swim Instructor will be responsible for planning and conducting swimming lessons for individuals of all age groups and abilities, including those with special needs. Responsibilities include teaching water safety, designing tailored swim programs, monitoring swimmer progress, maintaining a safe pool environment, and ensuring a positive and encouraging atmosphere. The instructor will also communicate with parents, guardians, and caregivers about students’ progress and suggest techniques for continued improvement outside of lessons.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in swimming instruction, water safety, and ability to design tailored programs for varying skill levels
- Experience working with individuals with special needs; patience, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills
- Communications skills for effectively interacting with clients, parents, and guardians
- Knowledge of CPR and First Aid; a lifeguard certification is strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Previous swim instruction experience is preferred but not required
- Passion for working with diverse communities and a commitment to inclusivity
