What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collision Repair Technician Helper position at Kenwood Autobody?
Summary
Helps repair damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards.
Essential Duties
- Work closely with our experienced technicians and mechanics to assist in various repair tasks. This includes preparing surfaces, sanding, taping, and masking vehicles prior to painting, as well as removing and installing damaged parts.
- Assist our auto body technicians in repairing dents, straightening frames, and welding damaged parts. You will also be responsible for disassembling and reassembling vehicles as needed.
- Assist with routine maintenance, frame and structural repairs, diagnostics and maintaining vehicle safety and integrity.
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace is vital in the automotive industry. You will be responsible for keeping the body shop area clean and organized, including proper disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
- Assist in conducting thorough inspections to ensure repaired vehicles meet the highest standards and specifications.
- Utilize various tools and equipment such as spray guns, painting equipment, power tools, masking tape, basic hand tools, wire brushes and more on the job site.
- Assist in documenting repairs, parts usage, and maintaining detailed records for each vehicle in a timely manner.
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
- Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
- Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
- Other tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- I-CAR Certification desirable not required.
