Kentucky Derby Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization that sits on the front steps of historic Churchill Downs Racetrack. It is one of the premiere attractions in the Louisville region, celebrating the tradition, history, hospitality and pride of the world-renowned event that is the Kentucky Derby. The Museum welcomes over 250,000 visitors annually; a large percentage of those visitors come from outside of Kentucky, journeying from across the country and the world.
Position Purpose:
The primary purpose for the Marketing Coordinator is to create compelling, targeted email campaigns, setting up and monitoring data analytics for email, and updating the website using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices. This position will make a demonstrative addition to the Marketing Team, allowing us to utilize data to drive marketing strategies, tactics, and decisions. This position will report to the Director of Marketing and supports multiple cross-functional teams.
Essential Functions/Accountabilities:
- Develops and maintains a strategic content calendar and schedule supporting brand, e-commerce/gift store, membership, bourbon initiatives, KDM events, curatorial, and rentals.
- Designs all brand emails and obtains input/approvals from appropriate internal Team Members.
- Maintains e-newsletter database and analytics for email database across multiple departments for general Museum content, gift store, membership, bourbon, and rentals.
- Maintain e-newsletter subscriber list and implement strategies to grow subscriber list.
- Evaluate monthly data analytics including weekly reports of sales and customer count.
- Creates tracking links/UTM codes and requests media partners use them when placing our ads, as well as place them on the e-newsletter.
- Performs general maintenance and evaluation to the KDM website.
- Manages brand projects as designated by the Marketing Director including, but not limited to, designing signs, ads, blogs, or content management.
- Manages multiple projects, assignments, and tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Creates and designs digital marketing creative such as, banner ads, video display ads, digital contests, etc.
- Manages Marketing platforms, such as CROWDRIFF, Jotform, and EMMA.
- Assists with Museum events, handling impromptu logistics and support to the Marketing and Communications teams; as well as, the Special Events & Sales department.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferably in Marketing, Communications, or Graphic Design.
· 1 – 3 years of digital marketing experience.
· Experience in various programs including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suites (illustrator, photoshop, In Design, HTML experience, HTML experience with bootstrap code, Canva, Microsoft, Outlook, Google Analytics, Wide Orbit, EMMA Email platform, Jotform, Qgive, Youtube experience.
· Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
· Excellent time management skills in order to meet deadlines.
· Ability to focus, with a keen attention to detail.
· Able to work quickly, efficiently and independently.
· Results-oriented, self-driven, proactive, and team player attitude.
· Software expertise: Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite
· Must be able to sufficiently pass a criminal background check.
· Must have a valid driver’s license.
Work Schedule:
· Approximately 40 hours per week during operating hours of 8:30AM – 5:00PM (open all days of the week).
· Mandatory overtime and flexible scheduling during the week leading up to and including the Kentucky Derby.
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk, and climb stairs. This individual will be required to lift packages up to 25lbs. The employee is required to have non-standard workday hours during the spring and fall sessions. All indoor spaces are air-conditioned, although some job duties may take place outside, or in another non-climate-controlled space.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a crowded work area. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to navigate a crowded area and handle a challenging workload.
