KyCAD would like to announce a new position in the capacity of Adjunct Lecturer of Graphic Design, a six-week course taking place Fall 2026, Session 1 (August 24-October 2, M-R –9am-12:30pm). This position is open to Internal and External applications.

 

Position Description:

Under the direction of the Chair of Graphic Design, the Adjunct Lecturer would have the opportunity to instruct STU 494: Special Topics: The Political Poster.

 

Compensation:

Salary: $4,000 per 3 credit course

 

Course Description:

STU 494: Special Topics: The Political Poster. 3 credits

The Political Poster investigates how artists and designers deploy posters to construct, contest, and circulate political

meaning within public space. Grounded in visual culture and communication theory, the course engages key concepts such as propaganda, counter-publics, and visual rhetoric to analyze historical and contemporary movements. Students critically examine how typography, image, and reproduction technologies shape ideology, then develop their own poster projects addressing current political and social issues. Emphasizing ethics, audience, and context, the course positions the poster as an accessible yet powerful tool for intervention within contemporary political discourse.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach to the objectives of the approved

Qualifications:

  • Master of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design or master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate course credit hours in Graphic Design or recognized professional accomplishments in related field.
