What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook position at Kenton Nursing & Rehab Center?
Head Cook - is responsible for preparation of foods for approx 90-100 residents and some additional meals for family and staff. Responsible for appropriate quantities of food prepared to meet menu and special diet specifications with consideration for portion control.
Job Knowledge and Role Responsibilities :
1. Demonstrates knowledge of age specific developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents.
Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to prepare meals for residents with the following needs : regular and therapeutic diets along with consistency modifications.
Ensures that appropriate diets are prepared for all residents according to current written physician diet orders. Ensures that each resident’s preferences and intolerances are current and monitored.
Prepares food to coincide with meal serving hours so that quality, temperature and appearance of food is preserved.
Adjusts each meals’ production sheet accordingly based on current diet and meal census.
Operates all kitchen equipment as necessary.
Monitors proper storage and rotation of food.
Performs cleaning assignments in kitchen or serving areas as scheduled or directed.
