This is your opportunity to help shape an organization where culture, equity, community engagement and employee development are top priorities.
Join a Team that Values People, Community, and Connection
At the Kenton County Public Library, we believe the heart of great library service starts with great people. We’re looking for a Library Associate who is dependable, welcoming, and thrives in a team environment. If you enjoy helping others, take pride in showing up ready to contribute, and find joy in creating positive experiences for every patron and coworker, this could be the perfect role for you.
What You’ll Do
As a Library Associate, you’ll work directly with the public every day—greeting visitors with a smile, answering questions, helping patrons find books and resources, and making sure everyone feels comfortable and supported while using the Library. You’ll assist customers at multiple service desks including the drive-thru window, over the phone, and at self-service stations. You’ll also help patrons learn to use library technology, printers, and online tools.
Beyond daily interactions, you’ll play a key role in circulation, shelving, displays, and community events, all while promoting the Library’s mission to connect people with information, ideas, and one another.
This role is dynamic and collaborative. You’ll work closely with a supportive team—often across departments and branches—to ensure that everyone who walks through our doors experiences outstanding service and genuine care.
What We’re Looking For
- A reliable team player who can be counted on to show up and follow through.
- Someone who communicates kindly and respectfully with patrons and coworkers.
- A positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay calm and courteous in a busy public environment.
- Comfort with basic technology, including computers, printers, and library systems.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new things and sharing knowledge with others.
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma, bachelors degree preferred.
- KDLA certification (or ability to obtain) at the level required for this position, and the ability to maintain it.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with the public.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Light to moderate physical activity required (lifting, bending, pushing carts).
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting up to 30 lbs., pushing or pulling up to 100 lbs., and occasional reaching, bending, and kneeling.
Benefits
At the Kenton County Public Library, we value our employees and the important role each person plays in serving our community. Our benefits are designed to support your well-being both on and off the job.
Full-time employees enjoy:
- Health Insurance: 100% employer-paid medical coverage for employees, with additional voluntary plans for dependents.

Why Work Here
- You’ll join a team that values collaboration, accountability, and kindness. We celebrate curiosity, community engagement, and the small, meaningful moments that make public service rewarding. At KCPL, being a good teammate is just as important as knowing how to check out a book.
