Overview
KENTECH Consulting Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee a high-trust, case-driven pre-employment background investigations program supporting public safety, security, and sworn hiring. This role is responsible for day-to-day program execution, investigator coordination, quality control, and client-ready deliverables.
This is a project-based role with responsibility for keeping investigations on track, maintaining consistent standards, and ensuring accurate, timely submissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the main point of contact for program coordination and day-to-day communication
- Receive and log new cases, assign work based on workload, geography, and investigator strengths
- Track progress across all active investigations, deadlines, and milestones
- Maintain the program schedule and escalate risks early (records delays, candidate non-responsiveness, workload capacity)
- Own report quality and consistency, including enforcing templates and documentation standards
- Review work products for completeness, accuracy, and compliance before submission
- Coordinate with investigators and report writers to close gaps and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain organized records, status reporting, and audit-ready documentation
- Ensure secure handling of sensitive information and adherence to confidentiality expectations
- Support onboarding, training coordination, and ongoing process improvement (SOPs, checklists, workflows)
- Cases are assigned quickly, tracked cleanly, and delivered on time
- Reports meet standards the first time, with minimal rework
- The team follows consistent SOPs and uses the same structure and documentation rules
- Stakeholders get clear, dependable updates without chasing information
- 5 years managing pre-employment background investigations for law enforcement or public safety programs
- Strong working knowledge of POST standards and California Government Code 1031 and 1029 (as applicable to sworn hiring)
- Proven experience managing a multi-investigator workflow with deadlines and quality requirements
- Strong writing and editing skills, able to catch inconsistencies and tighten reporting
- High attention to detail, strong judgment, and calm execution under pressure
- Comfortable working with sensitive PII and enforcing confidentiality standards
- Strong communication, able to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and drive follow-through
- Based in the Los Angeles area
- Prior experience managing work in a case management system (tracking, documentation, reporting)
