KENT WORLDWIDE™ is seeking a detail-oriented Sales Tax Associate to support enterprise-wide sales and use tax compliance within a centralized shared services tax function. This role plays a critical part in managing multi-state filings, reconciliations, exemption certificates, and audit support across multiple legal entities and sales channels. Working closely with cross-functional partners, the Sales Tax Associate helps ensure accurate tax determination, maintains audit‑ready documentation, and supports evolving systems and compliance requirements.
- This is a salaried position, designed and intended to be performed on-site at our Headquarters location in Muscatine, Iowa. It offers a comprehensive benefit package, and reports to the Tax Director.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales and Use Tax Compliance
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns for multiple legal entities and jurisdictions
- Reconcile sales and use tax accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Perform monthly nexus reviews and support annual nexus studies
- Maintain tax registrations, business licenses, and annual report compliance
- Assist with sales and use tax audits, state correspondence, and document requests
- Draft clear, factual responses to notices and information requests
- Maintain organized, audit‑ready workpapers
Exemption Certificates & Research
- Manage exemption certificates using third‑party certificate management software
- Provide research and guidance on indirect tax matters, including taxability and exemptions
- Support business users with exemption application and documentation questions
Systems, Process & Cross‑Functional Support
- Support configuration, testing, and maintenance of the indirect tax engine integrated with D365
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate tax determination across systems
- Participate in tax engine updates, testing, and change‑management activities
- Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, data accuracy, and system efficiency
- Provide ongoing user support, training, and issue resolution as needed
- Assist with special sales tax projects across business functions
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
- 2-3 years of experience in corporate tax or public accounting is required
TRAVEL
- Up to 10% travel possible to other company sites
