In this hands-on role, you’ll help keep feed production moving safely and efficiently through ingredient receiving, manufacturing, quality control, loadout, equipment care, and housekeeping. - This position is designed and intended to be performed in Altoona, IA
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely operate feed manufacturing equipment, including the bagger, sewing machine, forklift, and other production equipment, to efficiently manufacture high-quality feed products.
- Receive, store, mix, and prepare ingredients and livestock feeds while meeting KENT Nutrition quality assurance standards for accuracy and quality.
- Safely and efficiently load and unload trucks, complete loadout activities, and follow established warehouse and loading protocols.
- Accurately record and document all feed manufactured during each shift.
- Support production scheduling, inventory planning, and control of ingredients and finished products in partnership with management.
- Assist with equipment maintenance and repairs to help support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
- Provide excellent customer service while working collaboratively with team members across the facility.
- Promote a strong safety culture by following and reinforcing all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations; maintain a safe and orderly work environment and perform other duties as assigned by Plant Management.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required; 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred, with a farming background considered a plus.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic computer knowledge, with strong verbal, written, communication, and math skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate professionally with customers and coworkers.
- Strong commitment to workplace and feed safety, with an understanding of cGMPs, OSHA safety requirements, HACCP Feed & Safety Plan, and FSMA.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift and lift a minimum of 55 lbs. from floor to working height as required by the job.
- Ability to work safely in dusty environments, adverse weather conditions, and varying temperatures, and successfully complete required pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
