Schedule/travel: Academic Year. Occasional travel (Athletics)

Position Summary:
The Modern Languages Department has an opening for a highly qualified and dynamic teacher with a strong background in Spanish.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Teach four (4) sections of Spanish
- Provide instruction in Spanish consistent with the mission, values, and standards established by Kent School;
- Establish effective communications and relationships with students, advisors, and parents;
- Exhibit a growth mindset about teaching practices and work toward professional goals and development;
- Help to maintain school policies, regulations, and expectations;
- Develop and maintain professional, collaborative, and collegial relationships with faculty and staff, as well as with community partners to the benefit of students and classes;
- Participate actively in all aspects of community life through service in Kent School’s residential, advising, and co-curricular programs.
- Coach 2-3 seasons of a co-curricular team or equivalent (as determined by the Director of Athletics) (2 seasons of interscholastic and one season of either timing or intramural)
- Perform regular duty in our residential program
- Participate in Faculty committees
- Serve as Advisor to 5-7 students
- Secure a Public Passenger Activity Vehicle driver’s license to drive a school vehicle for school activities.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Spanish or a related field is required. Preference given to teachers with teaching experience, ideally at the secondary level.

- committed to improving their practice through peer observation
- dedicated to making positive contributions to the student experience both inside and outside the classroom, including in dorms, on teams and clubs, and through advising.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background checks and drug test.
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
- Work is performed on a smoke-free campus.
