Service Deli Clerks help unload and store meats, cheese, and other items in temperature-controlled areas to ensure they stay fresh. They are also responsible for maintaining a clean workspace so as not to contaminate the product prior to display. They work with deli staff to sell and package products for customers. They may also be expected to arrange products in an aesthetically pleasing manner to encourage customers to buy from them. A Service Deli Clerk must follow all food safety and sanitation procedures established by the company and other regulatory agencies. A Service Deli Clerks duties may involve working in a fast-paced environment, especially during peak hours, and requires a commitment to providing high-quality service to customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparing, slicing, wrapping, weighing, pricing, and merchandising the department's deli products.
• Maintain high standards for product freshness, cleanliness, and sanitation.
• Inform customers about our deli products and services.
• Service Deli Clerks help increase sales by handing out food samples and by recommending additional items to customers.
• Possess sufficient knowledge and ability to teach others the fundamentals of deli production, including mixing, scaling, slicing, cooking, frying and finishing.
• Maintain a high level of coordination and communication with other departments to ensure a smooth flow of products and service throughout the store and within the deli operation.
• Maintain adequate and appropriate department records at all times.
• Demonstrate maximum customer relations through friendly and courteous behavior.
• Supports the team by taking on additional tasks or responsibilities as requested.

Position Requirements

MINIMUM AGE: 18 Years

• Please note: weekend shifts are required (holidays as applicable)
• PERMITS: Food Handlers (preferred – willing to train)

Physical/Sensory Demands

A Service Deli Clerks work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to hot or cold conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries. A Deli Clerk's duties require standing, walking and bending throughout the entire workday and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 30 pounds from location to location.
