Responsibilities
- Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants, ensuring optimal patient comfort and safety
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside assisting, utilizing aseptic techniques and maintaining infection control standards
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health
- Review and update medical records accurately, documenting findings using appropriate dental terminology and medical coding practices
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment following infection control protocols and OSHA guidelines
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification
- Proven experience in general dentistry or periodontics settings; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus
- Proficiency in dental office software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and scheduling
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures including medical imaging and vital signs assessment
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach toward pediatric and adult patients alike
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient confidentiality
- Experience working with EMR systems, documentation review, medical coding, and medical terminology
