What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Technician / Residential Support Staff (Entry Level, Training Provided) position at Kent County Health Department?
About the Role: Are you looking to start a career in addiction recovery and behavioral health? We are a 24/7 residential substance use disorder facility seeking reliable, compassionate staff to join our team.
Please Note: While the internal HR title for this position is "Community Health Outreach Worker," this is an onsite residential support role. You will not be doing street outreach. Your primary focus is monitoring the safety and well-being of clients inside our facility.
What You Will Do: This is a vital front-line role responsible for maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment for clients in recovery.
- Maintain Safety: Monitor client activities around the clock, including conducting room checks, supervising smoke breaks, meals, and group sessions to ensure a safe environment.
- Support Health Education: Under the direction of our nursing staff, lead small groups or provide information to clients regarding basic healthcare and disease prevention.
- Client Orientation: Welcome new clients and clearly explain facility rules, expectations, and daily schedules.
- Documentation & Communication: Observe client behaviors and provide critical updates during shift changes, focusing on medical and behavioral observations.
- Operational Support: Assist with maintaining facility safety standards, conducting searches/screens as directed, and transporting clients in state vehicles as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (for client transport).
- Empathy, patience, and strong observational skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
- Must be available to work various shifts in a 24/7 facility (tthe majority of shifts available are 4:00pm to 12:30 am or 12:00am to 8:30am).

Pay: $18.22 - $19.22 per hour
