Kent City High School is seeking qualified applicants for the Custodial Supervisor position.
What You Need:
The Custodial Supervisor supports the day-to-day operations of the District’s custodial services program, ensuring that all facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role provides leadership and direction to custodial staff, ensuring work assignments are completed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with district standards. The Custodial Supervisor is a hands-on leader who works collaboratively with building administrators and staff and is able to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic school environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Provide daily leadership and direction to custodial staff to support building needs
- Assign and monitor work schedules to ensure timely and thorough completion of tasks
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and service are consistently met
- Assist with staffing, scheduling, and coverage to meet district needs
Team Leadership & Support
- Train, coach, and support custodial staff to build a strong and effective team
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback
- Address employee concerns and support positive employee relations
- Promote a team environment focused on accountability, collaboration, and pride in work
Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with building administrators and district staff to support daily operations and special events
- Ensure clear communication of expectations, priorities, and updates across shifts
- Maintain documentation related to operations, safety concerns, and staffing matters
Supplies, Equipment & Facilities
- Monitor inventory levels and order custodial supplies as needed
- Track and report equipment repair and maintenance needs
- Ensure proper use and care of custodial equipment
- Support setup and cleanup for school and community events
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to district safety procedures and protocols
- Promote safe work practices and proper use of cleaning materials and equipment
- Report and respond to safety concerns in a timely manner
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service quality, and operations
- Provide recommendations to leadership to enhance custodial services
- Support implementation of new processes, tools, or systems
- Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects

Qualifications
Knowledge:
- Principles of quality district custodial operations
- Budget development, cost control, inventory management, and recordkeeping practices
- Custodial equipment operation and safety standards
- Applicable district policies, procedures, and public health regulations
Skills:
- Program leadership and operational management
- Budgeting, financial analysis, and cost-conscious decision-making
- Staff supervision, training, and performance management
- Effective oral and written communication
- Organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
Abilities:
- Ability to direct and coordinate district-wide custodial operations
- Ability to ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or education preferred
- Previous experience in custodial services, facilities, or maintenance required
- Experience in a school or educational setting preferred
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer skills (email, work orders, scheduling systems)
- Ability to work evening hours and occasional weekends as needed
- Reliable transportation
- Consistent, regular and reliable attendance
