Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop mechanical systems for advanced industrial automation, machine design, and web-handling equipment. This role is ideal for engineers with strong SolidWorks, pneumatics, and custom machinery experience who want to work on innovative automation projects across packaging, energy, medical, and manufacturing sectors. The position offers hands-on involvement across the full engineering lifecycle and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop mechanical systems for automation equipment, custom machines, and converting/web-handling systems using 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
• Produce detailed drawings, mechanical layouts, and engineering documentation.
• Design pneumatic systems, including models, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Specify materials, tolerances, machining processes, and fabricated components.
• Select and specify purchased mechanical, pneumatic, and automation components.
• Create accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for assemblies and manufactured parts.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineers, Software Engineers, and Production throughout the design, build, and testing phases.
• Support equipment assembly, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities on the production floor.
• Provide technical input to sales, quoting, and project planning teams.
• Lead smaller engineering projects when required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and standardisation across engineering processes.
• Maintain strong communication, time management, and a high standard of engineering practice.

Essential Requirements
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on machine design, automation, or web-handling systems.
• BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong 3D CAD skills; SolidWorks highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, drawing standards, and mechanical tolerancing.
• Hands-on experience with pneumatics, and familiarity with hydraulics and basic electrical systems.
• Proven ability to design custom or one-off machinery.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Proficiency with engineering software and standard PC tools.
Salary : $95,000 - $135,000
