POSITION: Child Behavior Specialist Coach
LOCATION: Kenowa Hills Elementary Buildings (Zinser & Central Elementary)
SCHOOL YEAR: 2025–26 School Year
SCHEDULE: 1–3 days per week (flexible based on student and program needs)
COMPENSATION: $75/hour, not to exceed $4,000 total

SUMMARY

Kenowa Hills Public Schools is seeking a Child Behavior Specialist Coach to work in partnership with the district’s Child Behavior Specialist to support elementary students with behavioral and social-emotional needs. This role focuses on collaboration, modeling, and implementation of effective strategies to support student success and build staff capacity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work directly alongside the district’s Child Behavior Specialist to support students
  • Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans and strategies across elementary settings
  • Model effective practices for supporting students with behavioral and social-emotional needs
  • Support the Child Behavior Specialist in responding to student dysregulation, including proactive and responsive strategies
  • Assist with collecting and reviewing behavioral data to inform decision-making
  • Support the development of structured, predictable environments for students
  • Reinforce consistent use of PBIS practices and district expectations
  • Collaborate with building staff under the guidance of the Child Behavior Specialist
  • Maintain professionalism, flexibility, and confidentiality at all times
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support student and Child Behavior Specialist success


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with elementary-aged students with behavioral and/or social-emotional needs
  • Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies, including de-escalation techniques
  • Experience supporting or coaching staff preferred
  • Familiarity with PBIS, trauma-informed practices, and MTSS frameworks
  • CPI, Ukeru, or similar crisis prevention training preferred
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to take direction and work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to remain calm and responsive in dynamic situations


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS

This position involves working directly in elementary school settings alongside the Child Behavior Specialist, including classrooms and common areas. The role may include supporting students experiencing behavioral dysregulation, including verbal outbursts or physical behaviors. The ability to remain calm, professional, and responsive is essential.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS

This position involves working directly in elementary school settings alongside the district’s Child Behavior Specialist, including classrooms, hallways, and other common areas. The role requires active engagement with students and staff in dynamic, fast-paced environments throughout the school day. The individual in this role may support students with a range of behavioral and social-emotional needs.


This position requires:

  • The ability to move throughout the building and respond to student needs in real time
  • The ability to work in environments with frequent transitions, varying noise levels, and high sensory stimulation
  • The ability to collaborate closely and take direction from the Child Behavior Specialist while supporting students
  • The ability to model and reinforce consistent behavioral expectations and intervention strategies

The role may also include:

  • Supporting staff during implementation of behavior plans
  • Assisting during behavioral incidents or crisis situations using approved de-escalation and safety strategies
  • Providing real-time coaching and feedback in classroom settings

The ability to maintain professionalism, flexibility, and confidentiality while navigating complex and sensitive situations is essential.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Hourly, non-benefit eligible position
  • Not to exceed $4,000 total compensation
  • Schedule determined in collaboration with the Child Behavior Specialist and administration
  • Position funded for the 2025–26 school year only
