Company Description Kenosha Area Family & Aging Services, Inc. (KAFASI) is a community-based nonprofit organization that provides programs and support services for older adults and families with children. The organization partners with community volunteers to expand and enhance the services offered to residents of Kenosha and the surrounding area. KAFASI focuses on promoting independence, safety, and quality of life through practical assistance and social support. The team works collaboratively with local agencies and volunteers to respond to evolving community needs. Role Description The ADRC Specialist/Screener is a full-time, on-site position located in Kenosha, WI. This role is responsible for conducting initial screenings and assessments for individuals seeking services through the Aging and Disability Resource Center, including older adults, people with disabilities, and family caregivers. Day-to-day responsibilities include gathering and documenting client information, explaining available programs and benefits, and making appropriate referrals to community resources and social service agencies. The ADRC Specialist/Screener will provide person-centered information and assistance, maintain accurate records in agency systems, and collaborate with internal team members and external partners to ensure timely and appropriate service connections. The role also involves follow-up contacts, adherence to confidentiality and regulatory guidelines, and participation in team meetings and ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills to work effectively with older adults, individuals with disabilities, and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Solid organizational and documentation skills, including accurate data entry, record keeping, and basic computer proficiency (e.g., email, databases, office software).
  • Ability to conduct interviews and assessments, interpret eligibility criteria, and provide clear, understandable information about services and resources.
  • Skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, and sound judgment when identifying needs, making referrals, and responding to urgent or sensitive situations.
  • Knowledge of or interest in aging and disability services, community resources, and public benefits programs (training may be provided).
  • Commitment to person-centered, non-discriminatory service, maintaining confidentiality, and following agency policies and state guidelines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in an on-site environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, gerontology, or a related field is required.
  • Previous experience in social services, case management, call center intake, or community outreach is beneficial.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Kenosha, WI location and flexibility to attend occasional community events or trainings.
