Purpose: The Safety Specialist has responsibility for assisting the Director of Safety; also responsible for conducting training with field employees.

Purpose: The Safety Specialist has responsibility for assisting the Director of Safety; also responsible for conducting training with field employees.
Essential Duties Include The Following
- Perform comprehensive jobsite inspections, including tools, safety documentation, equipment, and machinery, to identify and mitigate potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA, Kenny Electric, and Owner/GC standards
- Assist Supervisors by evaluating and making suggestions for improvements in work practices to ensure a safe work environment
- Identifies hazardous situations and establishes jobsite safety procedures to correct them and ensures that field personnel have the info and resources necessary to effectively complete their jobs in a safe manner
- Implements procedures to ensure all company operations are conducted correctly, consistently and in a safe manner and comply with all federal, state, local and company regulations as applicable
- Participates in industry appropriate organizations, attend relevant safety seminars
- Investigates and documents all safety violations or unsafe conditions/activities ensures corrective measures are immediately implemented and follows up to make sure the corrective measures have been fully implemented
- Completes accident and near-miss reporting and investigations as needed
- Accompanies injured employee for treatment and evaluation to help support Safety Director in managing work work-related injuries
- Educates field personnel through on the spot trainings and provides weekly safety topics to be discussed with personnel
- Conducts orientations and other training classes with all employees regarding safety practices required on various jobsites to help support the Safety Director with risk management
- Administer the substance abuse program in the field
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
- Occupational safety/health degree or equivalent combinations of training and related experience
- Minimum of 5 years of construction safety experience
- Journeyman Electrician License preferred
- OSHA 500 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for the Construction Industry preferred
- Ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and Company regulations as applicable
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
- Ability to train and educate others
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Good computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Possess good vision (normal or corrected)
- Able to get to customer job sites
- Able to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead
