Required Qualifications
The Library Media Specialist works with the principal and teachers to support curriculum, instruction, and technology integration efforts/activities. He/she manages daily access to and utilization of information and technology resources; including library, media, computer, and video. He/she will serve as a trainer to students, teachers, and other staff to develop and broaden skills, knowledge, and experience in the areas of library, media, and technology resources. This position provides basic technical assistance and support for the high school. The successful candidate will spend a large portion of his/her time in staff training and professional development of which a significant portion is in the area of supporting curriculum and technology utilization. Required Qualifications
- Valid Washington State Teacher's Certificate appropriate for high school level.
- Endorsement in Library Media.
- Positive evaluations and recommendations.
- Endorsed in Instructional Technology.
- Evidence of demonstrated experience.
- Experience in a library media specialist position in a secondary school within the past 5 years.
- Evidence of demonstrated ability to work well with large numbers of staff.
- Ability to supervise and maintain all daily functions of the school-based library media and technology services.
- Ability to support the implementation, utilization, and maintenance of all voice, video, and data components, including, but not limited to, internet access.
- Evidence of demonstrated knowledge, competence, and skills in all aspects of current and emerging information technology; coordination and providing library media/technology services, and ability to actively promote growth of information/technology competencies among all staff and students.
- Demonstrated competence in coordinating, facilitating, and presenting building level staff development that supports technology integration.
- Demonstrated technical competencies in building-based hardware and software.
- Ability to assist with the purchase of resources for the implementation and improvement of technology services.
- Satisfactory library media evaluations and excellent reference checks.
- Technical knowledge of computer equipment and other media in order to repair, install, and operate building equipment.
- Demonstrated abilities in organizational, human relations, oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research methodologies and the use of technologies to enhance them.
- Punctual and consistent attendance.

- Assist in the development of and conduct training programs for staff and students in the utilization of technological library and media resources.
- Serve as liaison for curriculum integration at the school site.
- Provide technical services to support curriculum and instruction.
- Serve as a technical consultant to teachers, principals, and curriculum supervisors.
- Serve as a resource for use of technology in a variety of learning settings using different strategies.
- Assist in the development of school-level information technology plans.
- Team with teachers to support curriculum and student achievement.
- Be responsible for resource evaluation, selection, acquisition, organization, and retention.
- Work with existing library staff for effective development and management of the library, media, and technology budgets.
- Uphold library media center policy and procedures consistent with district goals, policies, procedures, and mission statement.
- Collaborate with staff and community.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
