JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Kennett School District seeks applicants for a Physical Education/Health Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Coaching duties may accompany this position. As part of our innovative 4-day school week schedule, you will have the opportunity to engage students in meaningful learning experiences while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness and health education.  Teaches individual, dual, or team sports, utilizing a course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
  • Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education program.
  • Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, and fundamentals of movement.  
  • Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and athletic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.  
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive learning environment.
  • Organizes storage areas and controls use of materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Maintains professional competence through professional development activities.
  • Communicates with parents regarding student progress.
  • Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the District.  
  • Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
