PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness and health education. Teaches individual, dual, or team sports, utilizing a course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education program.
- Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, and fundamentals of movement.
- Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and athletic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive learning environment.
- Organizes storage areas and controls use of materials, equipment, and tools.
- Maintains professional competence through professional development activities.
- Communicates with parents regarding student progress.
- Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the District.
- Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
