What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welding Technology Instructor position at Kennett Career & Technology Center?
The Kennett School District seeks applicants for a Welding Instructor for the 2026-2027 school year. As part of our innovative 4-day school week schedule, you will have the opportunity to engage students in meaningful learning experiences while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Applicants need to have a Missouri teacher certification or be eligible for certification. Starting teacher pay is $40,000, and salary is based upon years of experience and education. The Welding Technology Instructor will instruct and supervise students in Welding Technology. Introduces, teaches, and evaluates work ethics, fundamental principles in Safety, Oxy-Fuel Cutting and Welding, Gas Metal Arc, Gas Tungsten Arc, Shielded Metal Arc Welding and Fabrication. Evaluates student progress and maintains records in accordance with Kennett Career & Technology Center standards. Administers written and welding qualification tests. Position reviews, revises, and develops program curriculum, curriculum materials, and learning assignments; reviews the demands of the industry and meets with an Advisory Board twice a year to develop curriculum which meets the current needs of students and employers.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, BS degree preferred
Technical school diploma or equivalent industry training
Three (3) years/6,000 hours paid occupational experience in Welding
Abilities and Characteristics:
The applicant must have a high school diploma or GED, plus 3 consecutive years of relevant full-time, paid, in field work experience related. Applicant must be proficient in Shielded Metal Arc, Gas Metal Arc, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Fabrication, and possess blueprint reading skills. Must be self motivated, have strong interpersonal skills, and computer skills with the ability to work in Word and some Excel. If interviewed applicant, should be prepared to demonstrate proficiency in above areas and show current certifications if applicable.
