What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Attorney - Plaintiff's Personal Injury position at Kennedy Watkins LLC?
Kennedy Watkins LLC, a plaintiff’s personal injury and wrongful death firm litigating cases in both state and federal court, is seeking a full-time associate attorney to join our growing team. This role is in person at our downtown Chicago office, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
Responsibilities
- Appear for court calls at the Daley Center and via Zoom
- Draft and respond to written discovery
- Prepare clients for deposition and represent them during testimony
- Take depositions of defendants and defense witnesses
- Evaluate and screen new client intakes
- Use and maintain our case management system (Clio)
- Negotiate settlements with insurance carriers and defense counsel
Requirements
- Licensed to practice law in Illinois and in good standing
- Prior experience or strong interest in personal injury litigation preferred
- Excellent analytical and legal writing skills with attention to detail
- Strong verbal communication and client-relations skills
- Ability to manage cases independently while collaborating with a team
- Professionalism, initiative, and a commitment to high-quality representation
