Lower School Teacher Assistant

Through our individualized approach to instruction thanks to our small student-teacher ratio, students are encouraged to leverage their personal strengths and passions as they develop their language and academic knowledge.We are looking for a full-time Teacher Assistant to join our Lower School for the 2025-2026 school year and play an active part in the day-to-day activities of our Lower School classes in English. This role has an immediate start date.The ideal candidate will be compassionate and self-motivated as well as possessing an innate joy of working with young children. He/she will be devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment.Responsibilities- Assisting teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment- Working with the lead teacher to monitor the class schedule- Going over lesson material with students individually or in small groups- Ensuring the classroom environment is safe, clean and tidy- Overseeing students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, recess, and on-field excursions- Collaborating with lead teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions- Helping lead teachers to create lesson plans- During camps, participating as an Lead Teacher- Complying with state, school, and class rules and regulations.- Attending all training classes, parent conferences, and faculty meetingsRequirementsQualifications- High school diploma or equivalent qualification- Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant field is preferred- A minimum of 2 years experience as a teaching assistant or similar role- Solid understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices- Must have a compassionate and positive attitude- Excellent written and verbal communication skills- Outstanding interpersonal and presentation abilities- Preferred candidate will have a current U.S. work visa, if applicableBenefitsThe hourly rate for this position ranges between $24.00 to $28.00, dependent on the candidate’s experience and qualifications, and covers all responsibilities, including orientation week meetings, as well as staff and parent meetings.
