The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations across the organization's restaurant, commercial, and residential development companies. This position provides strategic financial leadership, ensures the integrity of all financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, and delivers meaningful financial analysis to support sound business decisions.


The Accounting Manager directly supervises the Accounting Department, including Accounts Payable and administrative accounting personnel, and works closely with the President and the senior leadership team to maximize financial performance, improve operational efficiencies, and ensure all companies operate within approved budgets.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

  • Process and code invoices
  • Match invoices to POs and resolve discrepancies with vendors and Buying Team
  • Reconcile and research open POs
  • Ensure appropriate approval of all administrative & operational invoices
  • Prepare and check monthly AP/PO report reconciliation; resolve reconciliation items
  • Cut checks on a weekly basis and according to vendor terms
  • Audit and code employee expense reports
  • File paid invoices
  • Processing of 1099s and reporting 1099s to vendors.
  • Reconcile Bank Statements

Accounts Receivable

  • Keep detailed records of all accounts receivable payments; and
  • Invoice and collect payment on all accounts receivable accounts.

Payroll

  • Research future payroll systems to ensure that they are within budget and integrate well with all accounting systems.
  • Secondary contact for all payrolls and backup for process and review of payrolls.
  • Responsible for ensure that all corporate hourly administrative employees turn in their hours correctly.

Cash Handling & Theft Prevention

  • Follow and implement proper cash handling procedures for all divisions of Kennedy Concepts
  • Assist in the development and improvement of cash handling procedures to minimize the risk of theft
  • Create an ongoing schedule of auditing business cash on hand, including in store safes and petty cash, to ensure that proper cash handling and theft prevention is being followed at the store level
  • Report all issues with cash handling and theft prevention to the President and Director of Operations so that appropriate action can be taken in a timely manner
  • Record cash deposit receipts
  • Reconcile Corporate Petty Cash
  • Responsible for scheduling safe audits

Financial Reporting

  • Month End Financial Statements
  • Bank Account Reconciliation
  • Reconciliation of all Accounts
  • Statement of Cash Flow Reports
  • Profit and Loss Statements
  • General Ledger
  • Balance Sheet
  • Accounts Payables
  • Accounts Receivables
  • Annual and Monthly Budgets
  • Cash Reports
  • Year End Financials including journal entries provided by CPA
  • Calculate and issue financial analysis of the financial statements
  • Calculate and issue weekly financial reports regarding key costs (inventory COGS, labor, etc.)
  • Calculate and issue monthly financial reports regarding key costs (inventory COGS, labor, etc.); and
  • Other Financial Statements

Clerical

  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system; and
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to management as required.

Management Supervision

  • Oversee the Accounting Team and ensure GAAP and Kennedy Concepts standards, policies, and procedures are being met
  • Ensure that all members of the accounting team are adhering to deadlines set by yourself and owner
  • Show leadership through hard work, loyalty, dedication, and honesty to the Staff and Kennedy Concepts
  • Earn and maintain the respect of all management and staff team members through hard work, honesty, and strong Leadership
  • Document accounting team members for violations of company policy as outlined in the employee handbook
  • Be part of the disciplinary process for all Accounting Team Members prior to any termination decisions being made
  • Work with the Human Resources on making determinations on appropriate disciplinary action and/or termination of accounting team members
  • Coach accounting team and oversee interventions prior to the need for disciplinary action
  • Be sure you reward, thank, and acknowledge your team members when they do a good job; and
  • Schedule regular meetings with your team and outside departments to ensure proper communication within and outside of your department.

Other

  • Multi-Company Management
  • Intercompany Transactions
  • Collecting and paying taxes – sales and use tax, liquor by the drink tax, gross receipts tax, personal property tax, Gatlinburg Privilege Taxes, Franchise and Excise Tax
  • Submitting Personal Property Payments
  • Correspond with CPA throughout the year and for yearend financials
  • Tag and monitor fixed assets
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to Owner, D.O. and management
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Month End Inventory Adjustments
  • Liquor license renewals
  • Handle all bank communications
  • Process all company owned credit cards
  • Work with the Owner to assist, as needed, in negotiating and managing vendor and other business-related contracts; and
  • Take on special projects given by owner and provide assistance, as needed.
  • Oversee the processing of unemployment claims
  • Oversee the processing of workmen’s comp claims
  • Personnel File retention of all management and corporate level employees
  • Assist in the onboarding of new corporate level employees
  • Responsible for the company insurance and 401k benefits program.

Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
