Duties
- Provide academic advising to help students select appropriate coursework aligned with their interests and future goals.
- Support students facing mental health challenges by offering support.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify students needing additional support.
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to evaluate student progress and identify areas for intervention.
- Maintain detailed records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with child protective services protocols.
- Engage with families through communication about student progress, behavioral concerns, and available community resources.
- Stay informed about best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field
- Valid school counselor certification or licensure as required by local education authorities.
- Proven experience working with children and adolescents in educational or counseling settings.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, teachers, and community partners.
- Knowledge of childhood development stages and behavioral health issues affecting youth.
- Ability to manage conflicts constructively and implement behavioral management strategies.
- Familiarity with special education processes, standardized testing procedures, and child protective services protocols.
- Experience providing individual or group counseling tailored to diverse cultural backgrounds is highly desirable.
