What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Veterinary Technician position at Kennebec Veterinary Services, Inc.?
Experienced Veterinary Technician wanted (prefer licensed, but practical experience considered and we are willing to invest in you and your training.). Pay commensurate with experience level. Candidate should have good technical skills, great communication skills with staff and clients, and a strong work ethic. Needs to be very reliable without profuse absences. Should be organized; handle responsibility and multi-tasking well. We are looking for a friendly candidate who wants to work well with our team members; is mature, has a positive mentality and is professional in conduct. We have a small team, many that have been with the practice for 48, 27, 20, and 15 years; we are like a family in some respects. The candidate wants to find a place to put down roots, have a career versus just a job, and desires a work environment that is friendly, cooperative, and welcoming. This job is detailed-oriented so candidate must be able to follow directions, systems, and protocols as well as work well both with a team and independently.
Skills to include, but not limited to:
- Taking client histories and providing patient education
- Animal restraint and handling
- Care of hospitalized patients
- Venipuncture/IV catheter placement
- Assisting with surgical procedures: anesthesia administration/monitoring
- Running hospital equipment including blood machine, centrifuge, dental equipment, & patient monitors
- Pharmacology; laboratory procedures and diagnostics;
- Digital radiography
- Inventory management; cleaning/restocking, and other assigned duties.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Maintenance/cleaning of work areas.
Job Type:
Mondays to Fridays; Some evening shifts (til 7pm); No emergency duty; No weekend shifts.
Full-Time (generally 40 hours/week) with full benefit package
