Beginning wages is $23.17 per hour with no experience. Training is provided and the Academy training will be paid for by the County.
** If you are looking for a change in your career, you’ve found it! The Corrections Division of the Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking applicants for the position of Corrections Officer. There are three shifts that provide 24-hour coverage for the Correctional Facility. As a Corrections employee, you will receive excellent benefits and various opportunities for advancement.
Corrections Officers ensure a high- quality correctional facility by providing for the care, custody and control of inmates with supervision in their living areas and ensuring that inmates maintain cleanliness according to established rules and regulations. A high school diploma or equivalency is required as well as the Alert Test at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, Maine Criminal Justice Academy Medical Form and Physical Fitness Test at Kennebec County. Successful candidates will attend an intensive 6-week training program.
