What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Peer Support Partner position at Kennebec Behavioral Health?
Do you want to help make a difference for a family? Do you want to use your lived experience to help families navigate complex child serving systems?
Kennebec Behavioral Health, established in 1960 to provide comprehensive behavioral health services in Central Maine, named one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for 5 consecutive years and now recognized as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) is seeking a compassionate, motivated Family Peer Support Partner to join our team supporting youth and families engaged in high-fidelity wraparound and behavioral health home services.
As a Family Support Partner, you will serve as a trusted guide and advocate for caregivers of youth navigating behavioral health and child-serving systems, using lived experience to build authentic, peer-based relationships grounded in trust, respect, and shared understanding. In this role, you empower parents by actively listening, validating their experiences, and using strengths-based, person-first approaches to support their decision-making and amplify their voice within high-fidelity wraparound teams. You help families navigate complex child-serving systems, connect them with natural supports, and foster confidence, resilience, and self-advocacy—while maintaining clear professional boundaries, confidentiality, and a collaborative, non-adversarial approach with both families and service providers. Additionally, family peer support partners work in interdisciplinary teams not limited to but including case managers, nurses, and youth peer support.
The selected candidate will receive training in the PEARLS model of parent peer support, if not already certified, which is an evidence-informed approach focused on building strong, collaborative relationships and promoting family voice and choice.
