Summer EHS Intern

Ready to turn classroom learning into real‑world experience? Kennametal’s Bedford, PA manufacturing facility is seeking a Summer Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Intern to gain hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced metals manufacturing environment.
The Bedford facility produces Earth Cutting Tools, including tungsten carbide and steel products used in mining, construction, and specialized engineering applications.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to the EHS Site Standards Continuous Improvement Initiative
- Assist with machine guarding and minor servicing programs
- Support Emergency Action Plan updates
- Participate in industrial health monitoring (noise, dust, fume)
- Conduct risk assessments and evaluate job safety analyses
- Perform HAZCOM audits (labels, SDS management, training)
- Support environmental compliance activities, including Industrial Wastewater, NPDES, and Air Emissions recordkeeping
- Complete other EHS projects as assigned
- Hands‑on experience in industrial EHS
- Exposure to real manufacturing and machining operations
- Mentorship from an experienced EHS professional
- A strong foundation for a career in EHS, engineering, or manufacturing
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Engineering, or related field
- Proactive, self-motivated, detail‑oriented, and eager to learn
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
