Responsibilities
- Perform professional grooming services including bathing, trimming, styling, and nail clipping to meet each dog's specific needs and breed standards
- Handle dogs safely and confidently, utilizing proper animal restraint techniques to ensure comfort and safety for both pets and staff
- Maintain a clean, organized grooming station by sanitizing tools and work areas regularly
- Assess each dog’s health and behavior, communicating any concerns or abnormalities to pet owners or veterinary staff as needed
- Assist with pet handling during grooming procedures, ensuring gentle yet effective restraint and support
- Provide excellent customer service by advising pet owners on grooming routines, aftercare, and product recommendations
- Support team members with additional animal handling tasks such as pet sitting or kennel duties when required
Skills
- Strong dog handling skills with the ability to manage various breeds and temperaments confidently
- Experience in pet grooming, including bathing, trimming, styling, and breed-specific cuts
- Knowledge of animal restraint techniques to ensure safe grooming sessions
- Background in veterinary technician or veterinary assistant roles is highly desirable for understanding animal health signals
- Familiarity with pet care practices such as pet sitting, heavy lifting of animals or supplies, and general animal handling experience
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with pet owners
- Ability to perform physical tasks involving heavy lifting and standing for extended periods during busy grooming sessions
