Manufacturing Engineer
Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Bachelor of Science or Technology in robotics, electrical, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering or related field
Essential duties include the following; other duties may be assigned:
- Maintains strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated process equipment, including specification of power, vision, sensor, inspection, and communications systems
- Supports maintenance of all automation and controls-related systems in fast-paced manufacturing operations; tests, maintains, and modifies existing equipment control systems
- Troubleshoots robotic, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and hydraulic devices and circuits
- Designs and develops new control and electrical system design solutions for upgrades or retrofits
- Writes, troubleshoots, debugs, and modifies code for Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron, and other PLCs and HMIs
- Supports design, manufacture, build, and validation of systems which include PLCs, HMIs, pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons, and robotic integration, including the specification, design, and development of robotic end of arm tooling
- Supports design and development of management information systems leveraging industrial internet of things, enterprise resource planning database, and visual feedback and reporting
- Provides start-up, training, and technical support to internal customers for new and existing equipment projects, complying with safety protocols
- Defines equipment and component parts from external suppliers
- Creates documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings
- Ensures projects are delivered with the specified quality, on-time, and on-budget
- Works closely with support technicians to quickly resolve equipment issues and communicates project and equipment status to stakeholders
- Follows troubleshooting and communication plan to request help from other manufacturing engineers and/or outside suppliers, as appropriate, and informs operations of equipment status
- Understands APQP and collaborates with manufacturing and quality engineers to help team capture equipment and tooling risks on PFMEAs and collaborates with team to reduce unplanned equipment downtime by problem solving, identifying, and eliminating root cause to reduce the occurrence
