Kendall Park Animal Hospital is looking for the right candidates to join our team! Veterinary Technicians are a vital part of providing exceptional animal care! Your expertise in animal handling, laboratory and surgical procedures, and veterinary terminology will help create a positive environment for pets and their owners alike. Duties
- Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
- Handle animals safely and confidently through proper restraint techniques, including dog training and animal husbandry practices, to facilitate examinations and procedures.
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses.
- Manage pet care routines including grooming, feeding, and administering medications while ensuring animal comfort and safety.
- Take and process X-ray images, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed for accurate diagnostics.
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with pet dental care routines.
- Maintain detailed records of animal health, treatments, and laboratory results while adhering to veterinary critical care standards.
- Assist with animal catheterization, specimen collection, and other specialized veterinary technician tasks requiring animal anatomy knowledge.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy.
- Experience with laboratory procedures, X-ray imaging, and aseptic techniques in a veterinary setting.
- Strong surgical and dental skills are preferred.
- Familiarity with dental terminology and pet dental care practices.
- Demonstrated ability to handle animals safely during procedures involving animal catheterization or restraint.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and educate pet owners about animal care needs.
