Runner + Packer - Seasonal

SUMMARY:   Ensure production tables are continuously supplied with the proper quantities and varieties of flowers using a work order provided by production Lead. Cut and package bouquets, match the purchase orders, and ensure product is in appropriate carton.  Verify packages for quality, size, and quantity.  Ensure finished product meets Company specifications.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.   

• Consistently supplies production with correct type and quantity of flowers. 
• Coordinate with production supervisors, bouquet makers, and arrangement makers regarding supply and demand.
• Pull and safely transport flowers from the cooler to the production tables.
• Accurately supply tables with fresh product and floral preservative.
• Maintain a plentiful supply of clean buckets to maximize production efficiency.
• Take back into the cooler any unused product left at the end of the day.
• Package bouquets/arrangements into cartons and /or buckets according to recipe specifications.
• Verify UPC has correct information.
• Verify correct quantities are being packed.
• Communicate with Packing Lead about incomplete orders.
• Palletize and label finished orders.
• Shrink wrap finished pallets or rolling carts according to customer specifications.
• Communicate with Shipping Clerk in order to accurately organize and stage orders in the cooler.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area. 
• Other Duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

• Ability to work on weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work in a refrigerated environment
• Ability to carry, lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Ability to communicate effectively. 
• Ability to work effectively and relate well with others.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Must have floral knowledge. Minimum six months experience in floral industry. High School or GED preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS  

Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to converse in Spanish.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS   

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume and distance.
 

REASONING ABILITY   

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
