We are seeking a highly skilled and adventurous Business Development and Agro-Biotechnology Research Assistant to join our team. This dual-focus role is essential for our research and international expansion. You will be the primary expert researching the cultivation of tropical crops in Canada, while also leading our on-the-ground business development and data collection efforts in key African markets.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in biotechnology in modern agriculture and is prepared for a demanding travel schedule.
Key Responsibilities
* Biotechnology Research:
* Apply specialized knowledge of modern agricultural biotechnology to lead research on the growth and adaptation of tropical crops in Canadian environments (e.g., controlled environments, greenhouses).
* Design and inform experiments based on data collected from international fieldwork.
* Analyze and interpret data from soil samples to determine feasibility and optimal growth strategies.
* Collaborate with our AI and Digital Twin teams to integrate biotechnological findings into our predictive models.
* Business Development & Field Operations:
* Travel up to 70% of the time to various African countries to establish Kenchez Canada's presence.
* Identify and build strategic relationships with local partners, agricultural cooperatives, and stakeholders.
* Conduct on-site fieldwork to gather critical data, including the collection of soil samples for analysis back in Canada.
* Act as a technical liaison, representing the company's technology and research capabilities to potential clients and partners.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
* A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in agriculture, biotechnology, or a related field.
* Demonstrable expertise in Biotechnology and its application in Modern Agricultural practices.
* Strong knowledge of soil science and crop physiology, particularly related to tropical agriculture.
* Must be willing and able to travel internationally 70% of the time, including to rural or remote areas.
* Excellent cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills.
* High degree of autonomy, self-motivation, and problem-solving ability.
Preferred (Assets):
* A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Agricultural Science, Biology, or a related discipline.
* Prior experience working or traveling in African countries.
* Experience in business development or partner management.
* Fluency in French or other languages relevant to the regions of travel.
