Overview
Kemin is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team in Des Moines. This role plays a key part in supporting plant production by ensuring maximum equipment uptime through effective maintenance and repair. Responsibilities also include working with blueprints, demonstrating machining proficiency, and consistently executing the Preventative Maintenance program. In addition, this position involves fabricating and installing new production processes to enhance efficiency.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns, machine repair, welding, piping, machine rigging, and mechanical problem-solving.
This position is located at our Headquarters in Des Moines and will be working on the 2nd shift schedule, including an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for advanced maintenance including: welding, electrical, refrigeration, HVAC, etc.
- Accomplish preventative maintenance and repairs within established timelines.
- Provide input with Engineering team on various process improvements and installation of equipment.
- Responsible for troubleshooting breakdowns and correcting problems.
- Fabricate components from blueprints.
- Machinery assembly and disassembly.
- Preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Ability to perform maintenance on refrigeration.
- Must be able to ensure safety compliance.
- May be responsible for assisting with installation of equipment.
- Avalilable to be on call as necessary.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma with 5-10 years of related experience OR
- Technical School with 4-6 years of related experience
- Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve.
- Time management skills.
- Basic project management skills.
- Advanced Technical skills, including: machine repair, piping, pump rebuilding, HVAC, etc.
- Advanced electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
- Qualified with Lockout-Tag-out, Confined Space, Hot-Work Procedures, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
