Job Summary
KEMET Electronics / YAGEO Group is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Supervisor at our Simpsonville, SC facility. This is an onsite role. The Payroll & Benefits Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the accurate, compliant, and timely administration of payroll operations and employee benefits. This role supervises day to day coordination and execution of payroll processing, ensures regulatory compliance, resolves escalated issues, and drives continuous improvement across payroll and benefits processes. The position partners closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to deliver a high quality employee experience while maintaining strong internal controls.

This role supervises day to day coordination and execution of payroll processing, ensures regulatory compliance, resolves escalated issues, and drives continuous improvement across payroll and benefits processes. The position partners closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to deliver a high quality employee experience while maintaining strong internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration & Compliance
- Supervise end‑to‑end payroll processing for all employee populations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Review payroll calculations, deductions, tax filings, garnishments, and off‑cycle payments
- Serve as escalation point for complex payroll issues and employee inquiries
- Coordinate audits, reconciliations, and payroll‑related reporting
- Ensure payroll controls, documentation, and approvals are consistently followed
- Oversee administration of health, welfare, leave, and wellness programs
- Manage benefits enrollments, changes, and eligibility, including new hires, life events, and terminations
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, and other applicable regulations
- Partner with broker and vendors to resolve issues, assist with renewals, and manage open enrollment
- Review benefits billing and ensure accurate reconciliation with payroll deductions
- Supervise and support payroll and benefits team members, including work prioritization and quality review
- Provide training, coaching, and guidance to ensure consistent service delivery
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and documentation
- Identify process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency, accuracy, and employee satisfaction
- Partner with HR leadership, Finance, IT, and external vendors to ensure integrated processes
- Prepare and deliver payroll and benefits metrics, audits, and compliance reporting
- Support system upgrades, testing, and process changes related to payroll and benefits
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or equivalent and/or combination of related work experience and education
- 5 years multi-state, multi-entity, payroll processing experience
- 2 years of progressive experience of benefits administration
- Prior supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations and employee benefits compliance
- Experience with shadow payroll and tax equalization is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to interpret regulations and apply them in practical, operational ways
- Strong problem‑solving and issue‑resolution skills
- Effective communication skills for working with employees, leaders, and vendors
- Process improvement mindset with the ability to balance compliance and efficiency
- High level of discretion and confidentiality
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., UKG, ADP, Workday, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Proficiency in Excel and reporting tools
- Experience with benefits administration platforms and vendor portals
