Kemco Aerospace is seeking an ambitious Quality Inspector to assist our Quality Department for our St. Louis, MO site, as detailed below. Kemco Aerospace is a manufacturer of complex assemblies and precision components for use in a wide range of aerospace and defense applications. Our company works closely with large aircraft and weapon systems OEMs, such as Boeing Defense, Bell, RTX/Collins Aerospace, Northrop Grumman and several others. Crestview Aerospace provides key assemblies for many in-service platforms (H-47, V-22, F-35, F-15, F-16, F-18, KC-135, E-2, and weapon systems such as Harpoon and SLAM-ER. Kemco Aerospace/Crestview Aerospace is comprised of two (2) manufacturing sites, with operations in St. Louis, Missouri and Crestview, FL, and employs approximately 350 professionals.
Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Quality Inspector to support the inspection of precision-machined parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role focuses heavily on hands-on inspection and measurement, ensuring products meet engineering specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate is reliable, efficient, and comfortable working independently while maintaining a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform first-article, in-process, roaming, and final inspections on precision-machined parts
- Use a wide range of inspection and measurement tools daily; inspection activities comprise 90% or more of the role
- Read and interpret engineering prints, drawings, and specifications to verify product requirements
- Conduct detailed visual and dimensional inspections to identify defects or non-conformances
- Accurately document inspection results and complete required quality records and forms
- Communicate inspection findings to the quality, production, and engineering teams as needed
- Support additional quality department tasks and initiatives as assigned
Required SkillsAbilities
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering prints and technical documentation
- Proficiency with measurement and inspection tools, including micrometers, calipers, comparators, thread plugs, and plug gauges
- Exceptional attention to detail in both measurement and documentation
- Excellent visual acuity and ability to identify defects
- Ability to maintain focus and accuracy in a fast-paced, distraction-prone environment
- Efficiency-driven mindset with strong time-management skills
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to read, understand, and follow SOPs, specifications, and inspection forms
- Quick learner with a high level of trainability
- Strong, reliable attendance
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification preferred
- Experience in a machining environment (quality or production) preferred
- Familiarity with quality inspection processes and techniques
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook, preferred
