Responsibilities
- Operate dishwashing equipment efficiently to clean dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen tools according to food safety sanitizing procedures.
- Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, supporting the culinary team in maintaining smooth kitchen operations.
- Bypass dirty dishes from stations and ensure all items are properly sanitized before reuse.
- Support bussing duties by clearing tables and transporting used dishware to the dishwashing area promptly.
- Follow strict sanitation and hygiene standards to uphold kitchen health and safety regulations at all times.
- Handle manual lifting of heavy pots, pans, crates, and supplies safely and correctly to prevent injury.
- Maintain organization of dishware storage areas for quick access and inventory control.
Skills
- Strong understanding of food safety management and sanitation practices within a restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Experience with dishwashing machines, kitchen equipment operation, and manual handling techniques.
- Knowledge of food handling procedures, including proper cleaning, sanitizing, and storage of kitchen items.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining physical stamina throughout shifts.
- Familiarity with kitchen health and safety standards, including proper knife skills for basic food prep support when needed.
- Previous experience in food service or catering environments is preferred; banquet or hotel experience is a plus.
